Japanese trick-taking game with elimination and tactical management of guide cards
Marauders Inc. (Western edition of Trick Raiders) is a trick-taking game from Japan that adds tension to each hand thanks to the elimination mechanism: you receive some cards face down in your hand, others face up on the table, and only the latter allow you to open a trick. Before the round you can edit this group of guide cards to declare your implied bet.
The game requires you to follow the suit and provides for a fixed trump suit. If it's your turn to lead a trick but you've run out of lead cards – or you have to follow and have no cards in your hand – you're eliminated from the round. Players start with a few life chips: the one who keeps the most when one runs out of his own wins.
Sai Beppu's colorful illustrations transform animalistic mercenaries into lovable characters, adding personality to the challenge of planning when and how to play your face-up cards. Every decision counts: opening a trick at the wrong time can cost you exit the round.
