Upon arrival, they are greeted by a woman named Mother Askani and a young boy who is their son, Nathan Summers. They are tasked with helping the Clan Askani, a group resisting the tyrannical rule of Apocalypse, who is currently raising a clone of Nathan named Stryfe as his own. To survive and save their son, Jean embraces her powers, reclaiming the mantle of the Phoenix in this future timeline.
