Just before the destruction of the planet Krypton, the scientist Jor-El sends his infant son, Kal-El, to Earth in a spaceship. Raised by the kindly farmers Jonathan and Martha Kent, young Clark discovers the origin of his superhuman powers and eventually moves to Metropolis to combat evil. As Superman, he battles the villainous Lex Luthor, while also trying to win the affection of his co-worker, Lois Lane, as the novice reporter Clark Kent.
