A secret military team, SG-1, is formed to explore other planets through the recently discovered Stargates.
The story of *Stargate SG-1* takes place about a year after the events of the feature film. The United States government discovers an ancient alien device known as the Stargate, which provides access to a network of similar devices located on numerous planets and in space. SG-1 is an elite special operations team of the United States Air Force, one of approximately twenty teams from Earth that explore the galaxy and defend against various alien threats, including the Goa'uld, the Replicators, and the Ori. The series incorporates elements from Egyptian, Greek, and Norse mythology, as well as the legend of King Arthur.
