Street Fighter II was released for the Super Famicom on June 10, 1992 in Japan, followed by a North American release for the SNES in August, and a European release in December. It was the first game to be released on a 16-megabit SNES cartridge, signifying a significant technological advancement at that time, allowing for more complex and detailed game graphics and gameplay.
