Sonic the Hedgehog, born June 23, is the main protagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog series and Sega's mascot. He is an anthropomorphic hedgehog; as his namesake suggests, he was born with the ability to run faster than the speed of sound. Sonic can also roll up into a concussive ball to attack enemies, a variation on his species' real-world defence mechanism. With the first Sonic game released in 1991, there's no sign of the world's most famous Hedgehog slowing down anytime soon.
Tails is an anthropomorphic, two-tailed fox cub and Sonic's best friend. He can use his tails like helicopter rotors to fly and boasts remarkable genius and mechanical engineering skills. Tails very frequently accompanies Sonic in his adventures to thwart their nemesis, Doctor Eggman. In his early years, he was frequently bullied for his twin tails. His life took a positive turn when he met Sonic, forming an unbreakable bond with him. This relationship has made him more confident, growing into a more outgoing, brave, independent individual who strives to become a hero in his own right.
