An undetermined time after, they defeated the Abilisk, attracted the unwelcome attentions of Ayesha and her Sovereign race, and defeated the Celestial Ego. All while bickering and dishing out loads of attitude, just like a real family.
A sentient, tree-like accomplice of Rocket Raccoon, Groot sacrificed himself to save his new friends. As he propagated from a cutting rescued by Rocket, Groot rejoins the other Guardians of the Galaxy as an infant, slowly relearning the heroism that previously defined him.
